An increased demand from, above all, large projects is driving the conversion of the rental fleet to more eco-friendly units. Kranpunkten is now ordering 250 electric scissor lifts in an additional investment.
Kranpunkten’s investment plan for 2021 initially comprises over 200 units; boom and scissor lifts, truck-mounted aerial working platforms as well as telescopic handlers – most of which are with electric or hybrid operation. Demand for lifting equipment for construction and industry, in both small and large projects, has been stable during the pandemic year 2020 and during the spring of 2021 strengthened further. It is now a fact that Kranpunkten is expanding its investment plan with another 250 electric scissor lifts. It is above all deliveries to a number of large construction projects where Kranpunkten is on site with Function Pool operations that contribute to an increased need for machines.
The Function Pool concept means that Kranpunkten takes a greater holistic approach to the workplace and handles several functions for the customer. Kranpunkten ensures that the right machines are in place at the right time while the customer is relieved from coordination of logistics, service and support functions. In some phases of more extensive projects, the need for a large number of units of the same type may become particularly apparent.
– In the projects, we now see a growing need for smaller units for interior jobs and therefore we expand our fleet of electric scissor lifts further. These machines are quiet and without emissions, which is what is in demand when the projects have reached the indoor phase, says Rikard Jönsson, Purchasing Manager at Kranpunkten.
The increase in demand is driving the conversion of Kranpunkten’s rental fleet as the proportion of new and fully electric machines with a low environmental impact increases. At present, 83% of the units have electric power, either as the sole power source or as a hybrid in combination with fossil-free fuel.
Deliveries of this year’s investments will take place continuously until the autumn, and Kranpunkten will then have expanded its fleet to more than 4,000 units.
