Kranpunkten Contributes to the Future of Infrastructure at Lund Södra Interchange
One of Sweden’s busiest interchanges is being redeveloped — and Kranpunkten is part of the journey.
It is time to sum up yet another year that has passed. This time, we are doing so in our fifth sustainability report.
Summarizing 2024 without reflecting on the world around us is impossible. In recent years, global circumstances have added anxiety to many people’s lives. How we are affected is individual — some feel a constant worry about a more strained economy, while others are directly impacted by war and thereby exposed to immense suffering.
With this as a backdrop, I note with humility that, despite a noticeable downturn in the market, we have been able to achieve what we set out to do for 2024.
We have continued our transition efforts with the aim of becoming a climate-neutral business. The proportion of electric and hybrid machines has increased, as has the use of renewable fuels in the parts of our machinery fleet that have not yet been electrified. Likewise, emissions from our transport and company cars have decreased, as our vehicle fleet is now also gradually being converted to electric vehicles.
Through close collaboration with our largest logistics partners, we have increased the proportion of transports carried out using renewable fuels. It should also be added that there are now three fully electric trucks operating in the metropolitan regions of Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Malmö, which also contribute to reduced emissions from our transport operations.
Working with climate and environmental issues is a major part of our sustainability efforts, but it is not the whole picture. Employees who enjoy their work are our most valuable resource and an important key to success. There is no universal recipe for creating job satisfaction, but I would argue that if we all act in line with our core values — competence, efficiency, personal commitment, and safety — in our behavior and decision-making, we will go far in creating good and pleasant workplaces.

Within the scope of social sustainability lies care for our own employees, but also much more. Supporting children’s and youth associations, as well as contributing to research and aid organizations, has always been important to Kranpunkten.
However, this would not have been possible without solid profitability in the business.
In 2024, Kranpunkten participated in preparations for the new sustainability reporting standard, CSRD, which will be reported at the group level within Ekhaga Group. Following a double materiality assessment, some of Kranpunkten’s prioritized sustainability areas may need to be updated. At the time of writing, the EU has proposed changes to the regulations, which may mean that the content and/or timeline could change. Any such change will not affect Kranpunkten’s continued work on these issues.
During the past year, Kranpunkten celebrated 35 years in the industry. Looking back, I can conclude that much has happened during these years. A common thread throughout has been the drive — the drive to find new ways forward in light of the challenges, but also the opportunities, that have crossed our path.
I am fully convinced that this drive will now lead us toward the goal of becoming a fully sustainable business — economically, socially, and environmentally. There is no other option!
