The Lund Södra Interchange on the E22 and Road 108 is a vital junction in southern Sweden’s road network. More than 50,000 vehicles pass through this location daily, and during peak hours traffic queues often extend out onto the E22. To increase capacity, improve road safety, and facilitate commuting and freight transport, an extensive redevelopment project is now underway and will continue until the end of 2027.
The project includes:
A new design for Lund Södra Interchange with a roundabout and cloverleaf ramps
Replacement of all bridges along the stretch
Widening of Road 108 to 2+2 lanes with a central barrier
New bridges for grade-separated crossings, pedestrian, and bicycle paths
Despite the extensive works, the E22 will remain open to traffic, with only certain weekend closures.
The E22 and the Lund Norra exit are currently heavily trafficked, while the City of Lund is planning densification of the Ideon area and expansion in the new Brunnshög district. To meet these demands, a new interchange will be built at Ideon, along with additional lanes in both directions between the Gastelyckan and Lund Norra interchanges.
The new lanes will help:
Improve traffic flow
Reduce congestion
Enhance road safety
This is yet another example of how infrastructure and urban development go hand in hand — with Kranpunkten helping to enable sustainable solutions.
The Swedish Transport Administration and PEAB are also running a joint innovation project on site with a clear focus on sustainability. One of the most interesting features is the new pedestrian and bicycle bridge being built from Zero steel — a climate-friendly material with a very low environmental impact.
In line with this environmental focus, PEAB is also choosing sustainable machinery solutions:
“Kranpunkten shows that sustainability and functionality can go hand in hand. Their electric boom lift with long reach is a perfect fit for our projects and is fully in line with PEAB’s environmental goals,” says Magnus Ohlsson, Project Manager at PEAB Anläggning.
The first new lane has recently opened to traffic, and work on the next lane has begun. Kranpunkten continues to support the project with the right machines at the right time — ensuring a safe, efficient, and sustainable construction process.
In cooperation with PEAB Anläggning, Kranpunkten is providing several machines and operators for different stages of construction. Our delivery includes:
Around 5 lifts at different times
Telescopic handlers with operators for material handling and logistics
Skilled personnel on site throughout the construction period
Our machines are carefully selected to match the project’s needs, with a particular focus on reliability, performance, and reduced environmental impact.

Kranpunkten is investing in four new Ford E-Transit vehicle-mounted lifts — a step towards meeting the demand for convenient, fully electric machines in urban environments.
Kranpunkten has placed a new order for 40 fully electric scissor lifts from Dingli. The order includes, among other things, all-terrain lifts as well as oil-free models without hydraulic systems — off…
