Kranpunkten and Swerock invest in the first electric truck with flatbed and hydraulic ramp from Volvo

– It is with great pride that we, together with our customer Kranpunkten, are the first in Sweden to drive this specially manufactured heavy duty truck on electricity. The electric truck has just arrived in Sweden and is now being equipped with the last details to suit its assignments in the best way, says Thomas Ter-Borch, work manager at Swerock.

Together with Volvo Trucks, an electric truck for transporting rental lifts has been developed. The model is the first mass-produced FE Electric truck with this type of special equipment in Sweden. The construction is a fixed platform with hydraulically foldable and extendable ramp at the rear. It has a winch in the front to be able to easily pull up the lifts and machines that can not get on the platform by its own.

With zero emissions and lower noise levels, the electric truck will primarily transport Kranpunkten’s electric rental lifts to construction and industrial projects within environmental zone 1 in Gothenburg’s inner city.

– Thanks to the collaboration, we can now strengthen our efforts within the transport area, where our CO2 footprint is largest. Our customers in the metropolitan area are offered a completely electric alternative; with a rental machine that is powered and charged with green electricity and transported to and from the workplace completely without emissions and much quieter, says Andreas Johansson, Regional Manager Kranpunkten Väst.

The truck will be based on one of Kranpunkten’s depots in Gothenburg and will be used for inbound and outbound transport of electric rental lifts to customers with projects within environmental zone 1 in Gothenburg’s inner city. The truck will be charged with renewable electricity at the depot and is expected to be in operation by the end of 2021.

Facts about Volvo FE Electric:
At present, Volvo Trucks offers two electric truck models, of which Volvo FE Electric is the larger. With a capacity of up to 27 tonnes total weight, it is developed for more demanding assignments in urban traffic. The power that drives the truck is generated by an electric motor with an output of 400 kW and a torque of 850 Nm.

The electric vehicle is specially equipped with a unique platform adapted for loading and unloading of lifts as well as a complete “Work-on-the-road” package with, including a light ramp and flashlight. The cab has large windshields, side windows and mirrors as well as an extra window at the bottom of the passenger door, for maximum visibility and safety. The driver’s working environment is improved by the cleaner air, the quieter and smoother ride and by the cab’s comforts.
