Kranpunkten continues investing sustainable

While maintaining demand, despite the pandemic, Kranpunkten is able to take further steps towards a completely climate-neutral operation. In the investments for 2021, there are over 200 units where most of the machines have electric or hybrid operation that entails a smaller climate footprint.

The Corona pandemic have so far had relatively limited impact on Kranpunkten’s rental business. Demand for lifting equipment for construction and industry, in both small and large projects, has been stable during the past year. While maintaining profitability and continued financial stability, the conditions for driving Kranpunkten’s sustainability work forward are very favorable.

The investment plan for 2021 includes over 200 machines; boom and scissor lifts, truck-mounted aerial working platforms as well as telescopic handlers. The investments, which can now be carried out in its entirety, is part of a long-term, green strategy.

– It is extra gratifying that we can continue according to plan despite the pandemic and maintain a strong focus on purchasing machines that create as low an environmental impact as possible. Most of the machines are powered by electricity or are hybrids. Of those that are only available with internal combustion engines, the majority are of emission standard Euro 6 and will be refueled with the fossil-free diesel HVO100. The first deliveries are already in place and the rest will continue to arrive during the first six months of 2021, says Rikard Jönsson , Purchasing Manager at Kranpunkten.

The environmental parts of Kranpunkten’s sustainability work include measures to reduce emissions from machinery and transport, to phase out substances that are hazardous to the environment and health, and to reduce energy consumption and the amount of waste. With long-term strategic plans and short-term operational plans , the aim is for the business to be completely climate-neutral.

– How fast the conversion can take place also depends on the pace at which society changes and new technology becomes available . Our customers’ environmental and business demands on us become demands on our machine suppliers. That is why we have a close dialogue with a few carefully selected machine suppliers who share our values and together we work for more environmentally sustainable machines, Rikard Jönsson continues.
